Driving
in north America is way different than driving in Mexico. There
are simply different things you have to be on the lookout for.
A few important aspects are listed below.
It its always advisable to get Mexican Auto
Insurance as foreign auto insurance policies are not accepted
in case of an accident. The standard insurance included with
many car rental contracts in Mexico provides only nominal liability
coverage. It is advisable that renters read their contracts
carefully and purchase additional liability and comprehensive
insurance if necessary.
Plan your trip ahead of time and make sure
you take all that you need along with a good road map, water
etc. Make sure your car is in good condition and has a spare
tire along with tools for changing it.
Be aware some of the roads may be narrow, crowded
and not in the best of conditions a roads are in the best of
conditions and requires one to be more careful. It its also
important to look out for livestock on the roads. Do not stop
for hitchhikers, as there have been reports of people being
stopped and their property being stolen in remote locations.
