that students can apply their newly learned language skills out
in the "real world" , several excursions a week are
planned to different recreational, cultural, and historical sites.
A guide or teacher always goes along so the students have the
opportunity to see México like no other tourist would.
The cultural and historical significance of these locations is
used as topics of conversation in the classrooms. The following
tours are the most frequently organized but Cuauhnáhuac
is very flexible and will arrange other field trips if they are
asked for.

VARIOUS MÉXICO CITY EXCURSIONS
The
world famous Ballet Folklórico,
performed in the beautiful Fine Arts
Palace, where vivid performances of many of the regional
dances in México are performed. These traditional dances
feature colorful and typical costumes and music of each region.
The Shrine of Guadalupe:
One of the most important religious constructions of all México,
this enormous church was constructed to honor México's
patron saint Guadalupe. Juan Diego's centuries-old famous cloth
with her image is on display here.
Chapultepec Castle:
Now the National History Museum, this once was one of the most
important buildings in history, serving as all of the following
functions: Federal Government Office, Residence of Emperors Maximilian
and Carlota, and Military School, where the 1848 battle between
the U.S. Army and Mexican military cadets took place.
Museo de Arte Contemporaneo:
This museum has five rooms of permanent and temporary exhibits
not only from México, but from all around the world.
Tour of Historic
Downtown México City: Palacio
Nacional(National Palace): Inside here are the presidential headquarters;
one of Diego Riego's most famous murals covers the walls of the
central patio, depicting Mexico's history from prehispanic times
through the conquest.
Templo Mayor:
Recently discovered, here you can admire the ruins of ancient
constructions: the remains of pyramids in their different epochs,
the enormous shell carved into a stone block, ceremonial altars,
serpent heads, the stone of the goddess Coyolxauhqui, and other
different decorative elements.
Catedral:
Located inside the Constitution Plaza (Zócalo), the Cathedral
is the oldest and largest religious construction of all the American
continent.
Museo Dolores Olmedo:
This house of artist Dolores Olmedo is also a museum, offering
a large variety of works by Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo. An extensive
collection of more than 600 prehispanic artifacts from various
mesoamerican cultures.
Casa de Frida Kahlo:
Located in the beautiful and artsy suburb of Coyoacán,
this colorful, former residence of the famous Frida exhibits personal
objects of her and husband Diego Rivera. Diaries, paintings, clothing,
furniture, easels and books are on display as if she still lived
there.
Xochimilco:
This beautiful precolombian site, "place of the flowers",
has colorful flat-bottomed boats passing through extensive canals
and floating gardens, as in the age of the Aztecs.
Anthropology Museum:
This museum holds an enormous arqueological collection of the
material remainders of previous Mexican civilizations. There is
also an ethnographical collection of customs and daily life of
the various ethnic groups, some of which continue to exist today
in different areas of México.
OTHER EXCURSIONS
The Pyramids at
Teotihuacán: These majestic pyramids in the State
of México are where you can climb the famous pyramids of
the sun and the moon. The pyramid of the Sun is the second tallest
in all of Mesoamerica, towering at 63 meters!
Tepoztlán:
This indigenous town is known nationwide for its energy, magnetism,
and healing qualitites. There is a pyramid atop a mountain you
can climb, as well as a Sunday market, offering a wide variety
of exotic arts and crafts.
Las Estacas:
At this exotic site of many film settings, there is a spring-fed
river with crystalline water, a natural spring, and a jungle-like
setting. You can swim, snorkel, sunbathe, or just sit and enjoy
the scenery.
Xochicalco:
Constructed in 300 AD, this enormous expanse of ruins is one of
the most important archeological zones in the State of Morelos.
Pyramids, ball courts, and other constructions are found here,
with Mayan, Toltec, and other prehispanic influences.
Toluca: This
town, capital of the State of México, is known for its
colorful market and tasty edibles. You will also visit the Cosmovitral
and Botanical Garden, reopened in 1980 as a colorful and formal
garden with fountains, as well as stained glass work.
Taxco:
Come visit this colonial city, famous forthe manufacturing of
silver. There is also the impressive Santa Prisca Cathedral, constructed
in 18th century in a churriguresque architectural style.
Grutas de Cacahuamilpa:
These grottoes are huge caves with natural sculptures formed by
rocks. You can walk several kilometers inside. Located 20 m. Northeast
from Taxco.
Lago de Tequesquitengo:
Is one of Morelos´s principal resorts, where you can water/jetski,
sunbathe, go on a boat ride, or just lay in the sun. There is
also a nice restaurant and swimming pools where you can swim.
There is a disco-boat which takes you around the lake in the night
hours; you can dance, drink, or just relax and enjoy the music.
Tlayacapan y Cocoyoc:
Tlayacapan is a small village where colorful clay ceramics are
manufactured and sold. In the church spooky mummies are on display.
Cocoyoc was formerly a sugar plantation-now it is a beautiful
resort, with hotel, restaurant, golf course, pools, and typical
hacienda architecture.
LONG DISTANCE TRIPS
Acapulco:
Sun, sea, sand, and surf....restaurants and discos, cliff divers,
Parasailing, shopping, and more. Puebla and Oaxaca are also scheduled
several times yearly, and also upon request.
