| Guadalajara's
major attractions are best seen on foot. For points outside the
city center, there is an inexpensive, well-organized public transportation
system.

Taxis
Miguel Hidalgo International
Airport (GDL) is about 12 miles southeast of the city. Taxis from
the airport are regulated and are reasonably priced. Always make
sure the driver resets the meter or else agree upon a fare before
you enter the cab. Fare schedules listing prices to downtown and
all major attractions are posted in the lobby of most hotels.
Fares are increased at night. Minibuses are slightly less expensive.
Rental cars are also available.
Bus
 Intercity
bus service is available to Guadalajara from most major Mexican
cities. There is an excellent bus system that will get you around
the city. This is the most economical and efficient but sometimes
least comfortable means of traveling. Local busses run throughout
the day from the city center to all local attractions including
Tonalá, Tlaquepaque, and Zapopan.
Subway
Guadalajara has an underground
light rail system that is clean, safe, and efficient. There are
2 main lines that traverse the city every 15 minutes and is a
convenient way of getting around town.
