| Puerto
Vallarta is a great place to shop, not only for local souvenirs
but also handicrafts that are made throughout Mexico. There are
several government run shops and fine art galleries where prices
are fixed, making it a better shopping experience. American dollars
and credit cards are accepted in most places. Markets and vendors
on the road side or the beach will quote exorbitant prices and
you are expected to bargain to get a good deal.
Please note
that additional info (prices, activities, etc) are found to the
right of this pages.
Puerto
Vallarta has an excellent collection of Mexico's fine folk art's
and crafts. Masks, pottery, lacquer ware, clothing, mirrors, glass
dishes, windows and lamps, antiques and modern art, carved-wood
animals and doors, hand-dyed woven rugs, traditional Mexican garments
hand-embroidered with Huichol Indian motifs, hand-painted fabrics
and embroidered clothing are all available in the markets and
from vendors.
Excellent
quality of Mexican silver can be found in Puerto Vallarta. Shop
at a reputable jeweler to get good quality sterling silver and
gold jewelry with creative pre-Hispanic designs. Watch out for
fake silver mixed with alloys.
