To Lima
Flights into Lima arrive at the Jorge Chávez
International Airport which is about 30 minutes from either the
historic center of Lima or to the school in Miraflores.
Numerous international and national carriers
serve this airport, so getting to Peru will not present any problems
at all. Lima is also a jumping off point for all other destinations
in Peru, so you will find an abundance of flights to different
regions of Peru leaving from the Jorge Chávez International
Airport.
You can visit the
Chávez International Airport website
here.
Airport Transfer
When you register at El Sol,
you can request that the school driver pick you up, or you can
choose from one of the taxi agencies or shuttle buses that operate
stands inside the airport. These reliable taxis charge approximately
$20 and the shuttle serve service, called the "Urbanito",
charges approximately $10. This shuttle will drop you off at any
one of a number of hotels.
It is highly recommended that you DO
NOT contract the independent taxis that wait outside
the main doors.
Getting Around Lima / Miraflores
Getting around the city is pretty easy. There
is a variety of public transportation with the main options being,
buses, minibuses, or taxi service.
In the city you will encounter three different
types of official taxis:
- Radio taxi companies (use phone to request taxi)
- Black limo taxis. Found at the airport and at larger hotels
- Yellow taxis (authorized by the city)
You will also see unofficial taxis. It is strongly advised NO
TO USE these taxis. Your safety may be at risk.
Taxis do not have fare meters. This means you will need to negotiate
a price. You should do this prior to getting into the taxi.
If you have any questions about getting around Lima or getting
to other destinations in Peru, check with us, or check with the
school if you are already in Lima.
