Teen Spanish Program In Playa del Carmen, Mexico

Playa del Carmen is an ideal setting for a Teen Spanish Program in Costa Rica. It is located on the crystal clear waters of the Caribbean, and less than 45 minutes from Cancun. The town is in the heart of what is known as the Mexican Riviera. There are plenty of things to do in town, and of course the beach is just a few minutes walk from our Spanish school. A short drive from Playa del Carmen you can visit Tulum, Chichen Itza, or go swim in some refreshing cenotes.

The classrooms in our language school Playa del Carmen are set in typical “palapas”. The open “palapas” with thatched roofs are right in the middle of the school’s big exotic garden with palm trees. To say the school has a wonderful tropical feel would be an understatment. There is a large main patio with a volleyball court, where students get together during the breaks. There are 12 classrooms, a conference room (with TV, DVD, VCR and Stereo) where many of our activities are held, a library and free wireless connection throughout the school.

We feel Playa del Carmen, Mexico is an excellent location to host a Teen Spanish Program.

The Teen Spanish Program in Playa del Carmen is only offered from late June through early August. The age range for teens is between 14-18 yrs of age. Participants in the teen program come from around the world which we feel adds to the overall experience. The program offers Spanish classes, sports activities, workshops, and cultural experiences and excursions.

The actual Teen Spanish Program consists of a 2 or 4 week Spanish course plus activity program. Each morning (M-F) teens will take 4 Spanish lesson. In the afternoons and evening the school arranges activities and excursions. Weekends are used for longer trips out to the rainforest or to a beach for example.

Spanish lessons are in classes of no more than 10 individuals. Classes are broken up based on language level. All the teachers are native Spanish speakers who have been teaching Spanish for years.

Teens will be staying with local Mexican host families. Families are all carefully selected and are generally within a 10-30 minute walk from the Spanish school. Teens will receive a private bedroom along with 3 meals per day.

Living with a local host family is a great opportunity to learn more about the Mexican culture while also having another place where teens can practice their Spanish.  There is a curfew that is enforced for all of our Teen Spanish Students.
